Preschool

Our preschool program recognizes that children need to be prepared for school socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively. At NGN our curriculum allows plenty of opportunities for your child to learn important skills at his/her own pace. Teachers take advantage of “teachable moments” and have the flexibility to accommodate individual interests.

At NGN children are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities that encourage them to enjoy the learning process. Teachers write weekly lesson plans using a variety of educational resources. Daily schedules for our preschool program are structured to include the following activities:

A child’s social/emotional development is a critical piece of their preparation for school readiness. Learning how to participate in a group can be a challenging adjustment for any child. Being a positive member of a group means that a child must be able to share, wait their turn, use problem-solving skills and learn how to control their emotions. At NGN we model and encourage the following behavior on a daily basis to help children develop the necessary social and emotional skills for a successful school experience:

  1. Encouraging generosity and sharing.
  2. Helping children to develop empathy through example and explanation.
  3. Helping children to learn that it feels good to help others.
  4. Showing children that everyone has rights and should be respected by all.
  5. Rewarding children for cooperation and compromise rather than competition and winning.
  6. Helping children to discover the pleasure of friendship.
